Maggie Stenson Pehrson has been living in the Seattle area for twenty years, and has relished being a part of the Seattle theatre scene for nearly fourteen of them. She was bitten by the acting bug with her first stage appearance as "The Littlest Rosebud" in a community theatre production of THUMBELINA in her hometown of Calumet, Michigan when she was four years old. Choir, band, and other theatrical adventures followed with schooling, but the academic side won out when she attended the University of Michigan and received her BS in Aerospace Engineering. After graduation, Maggie came out to the Pacific Northwest to work at Boeing in the Aerospace Company, and while she enjoyed the co-workers and the assignments, that nagging acting bug refused to stay away. Six months before her thirtieth birthday, Maggie gave notice at Boeing, and auditioned for and was cast in her first Seattle role: Lucy Mercer, personal secretary to Eleanor Roosevelt, in the world premiere musical ELEANOR at Village Theatre. In the ensuing years, Maggie has appeared in a variety of musicals, plays, and cabarets in such venues as Crepe de Paris, Civic Light Opera, Renton Civic Theatre and Village Theatre. Her diverse roles range from Miss Adelaide in GUYS & DOLLS to Elizabeth Proctor in THE CRUCIBLE. Other favorites include Lily in THE SECRET GARDEN, Christine Marlow in ROOM SERVICE, and Ginger in THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS. The highlight so far was when Village Theatre decided to bring back the musical ELEANOR, and Maggie was awarded a 1999 Seattle Times Footlight award for her portrayal of Eleanor Roosevelt in that revised production directed by Jeff Steitzer. As a singer, Maggie has recorded two CD's with the group Modern Angels. The first, SHINING HEART, is a compilation of old and new holiday songs, and was remastered and re-released in 2000. The group, which also includes Frances Leah King, Vickielee Wohlbach and Mark Geisler, had such a great time singing together and promoting that forst record that they decided to record another. ASK FOR MORE, an eclectic collection of originals and covers from showtunes to rock to folk, was released in 1996. Both CDs are available through Maggie's production company, Shining Heart Productions. In addition to her theatre appearances, Maggie is an AFTRA voice-over and commercial talent with clients such as Boeing, Microsoft and KING-5 TV. As a SAG actor, she has also worked on several TV series, including "Unsolved Mysteries," "Northern Exposure" and "Citizen Baines."
Maggie lives with her husband Clint
and their two boys Joshua and Gabriel on Queen Anne. She loves to
garden, cook, and enjoys looking for friends on TV.
She used to never miss "The West
Wing," and now it's Sorkin's "Studio 60!" |
